From the Artist
The Light
“I have chosen to see beauty as revealed by light,” said Perrin. “Each painting that I undertake, regardless of subject, is an attempt to capture an image that is both defined and unified by light.”
As I am now in my fourth decade of painting professionally, I can honestly say that the most important lesson I have learned is that it has to be fun. I don’t do anything that’s not fun for me, even challenging activities like painting and learning to play classical piano. It has to be fun or it’s not worth doing. One of the wisest things I ever heard was there can be no happy ending from an unhappy journey. Struggle and strife are not our lot in life unless we believe that to be true. Happiness is what we seek in everything we reach for no matter what the situation. I start every painting with the absolute knowing that this is going to be fun, and —what do you know?– it always is! This is the core of my teaching philosophy, as well. Painting, like all other activities we choose to pursue, should be fun.
What words of encouragement or piece of advice would you give a beginning artist?
Simply this — fall in love with the process of painting. Don’t over analyze, and most of all, don’t focus on your mistakes. Focus on what you want, what you love, and everything else will take care of itself. Oh, and always ask yourself why? Why do I paint? If you can answer that with every painting, you will be the happiest painter who ever lived.

Aimee Fields Perrin
I have considered myself an artist my whole life. Always drawing and painting and making beautiful presentations of food. I majored in art at Southeastern Louisiana University, Painting and sketching and sculpting at the university level. After college Dennis and I married and a few years later I was his first sketching and painting coach. While Dennis attended the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art, I took classes there as well. I soon became a mom and put my artistic endeavors on the back burner. Then while pregnant with our second child, Camille, I started posing in paintings for Dennis.
For the next 30 years I modeled in thousands of paintings for Dennis, working together with him to create a beautiful pose. In the last 4 years I began to paint again, painting foodie paintings of mostly produce and gorgeous fresh produce! Fitness, diet, nutrition and health are an important part of my life, as I thrive with type 1 diabetes for the last 47 years. My blog www.thehappyhealinglife.com is all about diet, health and well being and recipes! I began working with the team at The Perrin Method a few years ago, filming the courses and taking part in the discussions. I have been assisting Dennis in live workshops all across the country for the nearly three years.

I have always had a passion for igniting change in peoples lives globally. I was raised in an alternative household focused on healthy eating, spirituality, and unconventional schooling. Drawing from my creative upbringing, I am a singer and musician and love creating new music. I run an off-grid herbal farm & retreat center and have an herbal shop called Fields Apothecary.
I reside on an off grid property in Midcoast Maine with my family. I draw inspiration from being in nature, playing with her children, making herbal concoctions, spending time over the open ocean with her partner Samantha. In 2015 I co-created the online art school, The Perrin Method, with my father Dennis.
